Real Estate Photography in the Plateau — 1020 Rue Gilford, Montréal

I recently had the pleasure of photographing the top floor of a beautiful duplex on Rue Gilford in Le Plateau-Mont-Royal — one of MontrĂ©al’s most sought-after neighbourhoods. This was a photography-only shoot, and the property gave me a lot to work with.

A Space That Tells a Story

What immediately stood out about this unit was the personality baked into the architecture. This isn’t a flipped condo with generic finishes — it’s a home that has been thoughtfully lived in and curated over time. From the moment you step inside, a stunning original stained glass panel in deep jewel tones commands your attention. Framed in dark wood, it’s the kind of architectural detail that stops buyers mid-scroll and that I knew had to anchor the gallery.

Living Spaces Built for the Way People Actually Live

The main living area is generous and open, with original hardwood floors, white-painted structural columns, and a dramatic floor-to-ceiling walnut wood panel wall that doubles as a murphy bed or storage system — a beautifully integrated custom millwork feature that gives the space a warm, Scandinavian-meets-mid-century feel. The owners clearly have an eye for design: a painting easel, curated bookshelves lined with records and novels, and a healthy collection of indoor plants gave every frame a lived-in richness that photographs exceptionally well.

My goal with the living room shots was to capture the full depth of the space while keeping the natural light doing most of the heavy lifting. The result is a set of images that feel airy and warm without losing the character of the room.

Two Outdoor Spaces — A Rare Plateau Bonus

This unit has not one but two private outdoor spaces: a bright rear balcony with a wood deck and painted brick exterior, and a front balcony framed by the mature trees lining Rue Gilford. Both were photographed to show usable, inviting outdoor living — a key selling feature in the Plateau market where private exterior space is always at a premium.

Bedrooms, Office & Bathroom

The primary bedroom is calm and spacious, with high ceilings, glowing hardwood floors, and a large window flooding the room with soft natural light. The second bedroom doubles as a home office — a clean, minimal composition with a vintage banker’s lamp, sheer curtains catching afternoon light, and a monstera in the corner. It photographs like a page out of an interior design magazine.

The bathroom was one of the more distinctive rooms in the unit — a bold mix of cobalt blue mosaic tile, light wood cabinetry, dark slate floor tile, and a skylight overhead. The in-unit stacked washer/dryer is neatly integrated into the cabinetry. It’s an unconventional palette that works beautifully on camera.

Why the Plateau is One of MontrĂ©al’s Best Markets to Photograph

Le Plateau-Mont-Royal consistently attracts buyers who care about character, architecture, and neighbourhood culture. Properties here tend to have original architectural details — stained glass, decorative mouldings, wide plank floors — that reward careful, craft-driven photography. If you’re a real estate agent listing a property in the Plateau, strong visuals aren’t optional. Buyers in this market are discerning, and your listing photos need to match the calibre of the property.

This downtown Montreal condo, set within a prestigious, heritage-style building, is a strong example of how professional real estate photography in Montreal can capture both architectural character and modern livability.

From the moment you enter, the long, elegant hallway with herringbone wood floors establishes a sense of scale and refinement. I framed these shots to emphasize depth and symmetry, drawing the eye through the space and highlighting the craftsmanship that defines properties in buildings like this.

The exterior and common areas reflect the building’s reputation—classic, well-maintained, and associated with what can only be described as “old money” Montreal. Capturing this properly is critical, as buyers in this segment are not just purchasing a unit, they are buying into a lifestyle and a level of prestige.

Inside the unit, I focused on balancing natural light with interior detail. The living room, centered around the ornate fireplace and large windows, was composed to feel bright, open, and inviting while still showcasing the historical elements. Clean sightlines and wide angles were used to maintain a sense of space without distorting proportions.

The kitchen was photographed to highlight functionality and layout, with clear views of cabinetry, workspace, and flow into adjacent rooms. Bathrooms were shot to feel clean, bright, and modern, reinforcing the move-in-ready condition that buyers expect at this level.

Throughout the shoot, the goal was to present a consistent narrative: timeless architecture combined with modern comfort. This is what attracts qualified buyers in downtown Montreal’s higher-end market.

For listings in buildings like this, average photos are not enough. Strong, well-composed images that capture detail, scale, and atmosphere are what separate a standard listing from one that stands out, drives engagement, and ultimately leads to stronger offers

Old Port Loft Style Wide Angle Spacial Shot of Living Room

This Old Montreal condo stands out for its authentic loft-style architecture, featuring exposed brick walls, oversized arched windows, and expansive open living spaces. The objective with this shoot was to highlight the scale, volume, and character that define this type of property. Wide-angle compositions were used to capture the full footprint of the space, while maintaining straight vertical lines to preserve architectural accuracy.

A major focus was the natural light pouring through the large heritage windows. Instead of overpowering the space with artificial lighting, exposures were carefully balanced to retain detail both inside and outside. This approach ensures the images reflect how the unit actually feels—bright, open, and livable. The warm tones of the hardwood floors and brick were kept consistent across all photos, avoiding the flat, over-processed look that diminishes the atmosphere in loft-style properties.

The kitchen was framed to emphasize its role within the open-concept layout, clearly showing the connection between cooking, dining, and living areas. The main living space was shot to highlight depth, flow, and usability, while the bedroom and ensuite were composed with symmetry and clean lines to reinforce a sense of comfort and space.

Properties like this in Old Montreal sell on character, light, and volume. High-quality, well-composed images make those selling points immediately clear, helping listings stand out, attract more serious buyers, and ultimately drive stronger results for realtors.

In a competitive downtown market, buyers often make decisions based on what they see online first. Strong visual presentation like this not only increases click-through rates on listings, but also leads to more showings and better engagement. For realtors, that translates directly into faster sales and stronger perceived value, especially for unique units where architectural details and atmosphere are the main selling points.

Kirkland Luxury Home Photography – West Island Real Estate

This Kirkland home is a strong example of how professional real estate photography in Montreal’s West Island elevates a listing and directly impacts buyer perception. I approached this shoot with a focus on clarity, composition, and natural light, ensuring every space was presented at its full potential.

I highlighted the clean, renovated kitchen, using angles that emphasize counter space, cabinetry, and the overall functionality buyers look for. The open-concept living areas were framed to show flow between spaces, while maximizing the natural light coming through the windows. Each shot was composed to make the home feel bright, balanced, and easy to navigate visually.

The grand entrance staircase was a key feature, so I positioned it to reinforce scale and create a strong first impression. In the staged living areas, I focused on depth, symmetry, and perspective, making the rooms feel larger and more inviting—critical for online listings where first impressions happen fast.

For properties in Kirkland and across the West Island Montreal real estate market, presentation is not optional. High-quality, well-composed images like these help listings stand out on Centris and MLS, increase engagement, and attract more serious buyers.

The result is simple: better visibility, stronger perceived value, and faster, more competitive offers.

Lachine Duplex Photoshoot – Suburban Montreal Real Estate

I photographed this Lachine duplex rental property with a clear objective: create strong, conversion-focused visuals that attract tenants quickly. This Montreal real estate photography shoot was built around showcasing livability, natural light, and practical layout—what renters actually evaluate when browsing listings.

Inside, I highlighted the open-concept living and dining areas, clean finishes, and functional flow between spaces. The kitchen was captured to emphasize usability, storage, and brightness, while the bathroom was photographed to clearly present size, cleanliness, and condition. Every angle was chosen to support rental property marketing and improve listing performance.

The unit’s natural light and warm tones were used to create inviting, realistic images that reflect how the space feels in person. No over-staging—just clean, accurate presentation designed for high-converting rental listings.

For the exterior, I delivered both summer twilight photography and winter daytime shots, giving a complete view of the property year-round. The brick façade, balconies, and outdoor space were framed to strengthen curb appeal and build trust with potential tenants.

This project is a strong example of professional real estate photography in Montreal for rental properties, built to increase visibility, attract qualified tenants, and reduce vacancy time.

Outremont Duplex in Historic Montreal Building – Perfect For Professional Real Estate Photos

I photographed this Outremont duplex in a classic Montreal building with a focus on preserving character while presenting the space clearly for buyers. This shoot emphasizes heritage architecture, natural light, and functional layout, all key factors in Montreal real estate listings.

Inside, I captured the original hardwood floors, exposed brick walls, and detailed woodwork to highlight the building’s age and authenticity. The living room was framed to showcase the brick feature wall and layout, while the kitchen was shot to balance modern usability with the existing structure. Bedrooms were photographed to emphasize size, light, and livability, critical for conversion in residential property marketing.

I used clean compositions and natural light to maintain accuracy while enhancing brightness—no over-editing, just true-to-life real estate photography designed to build trust and increase engagement.

The workspace and hallway areas were included to show flow and versatility, adding value for buyers looking for multi-use living spaces. The private terrace was photographed to highlight outdoor potential, even in winter conditions.

For the exterior, I framed the full façade to clearly identify the unit within the building, reinforcing context and location—essential for Outremont real estate marketing.

This project reflects professional real estate photography in Montreal, focused on older properties, helping listings stand out while staying true to the space.

Downtown Montreal 3-Bedroom Condo on Drummond Street – Classic Luxury Real Estate Photography

I photographed this 3-bedroom condo on Drummond Street in downtown Montreal, inside a building that carries that old-money feel—quiet, solid, and understated luxury.

The space features a bright open-concept layout, with a clean modern kitchen, large island, and seamless flow into the living and dining area. Floor-to-ceiling windows bring in natural light and open onto a private balcony with city views.

I focused on capturing the contrast between updated interiors and the building’s classic character—from the renovated bathrooms to the warm wood tones and clean finishes throughout. The bedrooms are spacious, with the primary offering a calm, minimal setup that highlights scale and light.

The building itself stands out with a distinct, upscale lobby design that reinforces that older, high-end Montreal construction style you don’t get in newer developments.

This shoot highlights what matters for listings like this: space, light, layout, and location in downtown Montreal real estate.
